The Client Portal Is Not for Long-Term Document Storage

This portal is designed to give you a safe and convenient way to upload your tax documents and receive completed copies of your return.

However, it’s important to understand what the portal is — and what it is not.

A Secure Exchange Tool — Not a Filing Cabinet

The portal’s primary purpose is secure document transfer, not permanent storage. While it may be convenient to leave documents in the portal, it should not be relied upon as your long-term recordkeeping system.

As part of our ongoing commitment to data security and privacy, documents stored in the portal are automatically removed after a short period of time. This helps reduce risk and ensures sensitive information is not retained online longer than necessary.

What You Should Save for Your Records

We strongly recommend that you maintain your own copies of:

All source documents you provide to us (such as W-2s, 1099s, and other tax records)

The final copy of your completed tax return that we upload to the portal

These files should be saved to your personal computer, an external hard drive, or another secure storage solution that you control.

Why This Matters

Keeping your own copies ensures that you:

  • Have access to your tax records whenever you need them
  • Are prepared in the event of an IRS or state inquiry
  • Are not impacted by automatic document removal from the portal
  • Maintain full control over your important financial information
  • Our Commitment to Security

Auto-removing documents from the portal is a proactive step we take to protect your data. While this means files won’t remain available indefinitely, it significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access or data exposure.

In summary: use the portal to exchange documents securely — but make sure you download and save your records for long-term safekeeping.
